Once again this past week we’ve been busy scanning across the internet to find the latest information and Open University courses. The greatest university on the planet (we reckon anyway) is always innovating and leading the way on many issues that affect us around the globe and these news pieces reflect just that. So if there’s a free course or bit of news on the agenda then hopefully we will pick it up and stick it on the next Open University news.

Bristol University’s new life science building is to be officially opened by Sir David Attenborough. The £56.5 million building – a world-class facility for science research and teaching – will be officially opened on October 6.

Google has revealed the most popular searches for people around the world looking for universities. This ranking of online searches is very different from the traditional map of the global powerhouses of higher education.

Google has revealed that The Open University has been ranked as the No 1 European university and No 3 in the world in its worldwide search rankings. The OU was the only university in the top 20 with a base in Ireland. It has 2,500 Irish students currently registered on various courses and qualifications.
