Once again this past week we’ve been busy scanning across the internet to find the latest information and Open University courses. The greatest university on the planet (we reckon anyway) is always innovating and leading the way on many issues that affect us around the globe and these news pieces reflect just that. So if there’s a free course or bit of news on the agenda then hopefully we will pick it up and stick it on the next Open University news.
As young freshers flood into Oxford Rebecca Moore talks to three women who began a little later in life. Everywhere you look in Oxford lately you see one thing: freshers. For one Oxford resident, embarking on a university course through the Open University has been life-changing. At the age of 63, Jennifer Fielding has just graduated from her English Literature degree through the Open University.

Anyone who has had the “pleasure” of attending party conferences will know they are largely political theatre. While serious discussion does happen, spiky debates mostly take place in the lively fringe sessions. However the main conference speeches this year have offered some clues as to the agenda for the next parliament. The Conversation is funded by the following universities: Aberdeen, Bath Spa, Birmingham, Bradford, Brighton, Bristol, Brunel, Cardiff, Cardiff Metropolitan….. The Open University 🙂

After a highly competitive call for applications, the Committee for Enterprise, Trade and Investment at the Northern Ireland Assembly has appointed Dr Leslie Budd, Reader in Social Enterprise at the Open University Business School, Faculty of Business and Law as its Specialist Advisor Economic Policy.
