Once again this past week we’ve been busy scanning across the internet to find the latest information and Open University courses. The greatest university on the planet (we reckon anyway) is always innovating and leading the way on many issues that affect us around the globe and these news pieces reflect just that. So if there’s a free course or bit of news on the agenda then hopefully we will pick it up and stick it on the next Open University news.

A talk at The Open University is set to cover ‘Landing on a Comet: What we found on Rosetta and how we applying it on Earth’ tomorrow (17/02). This will be the second lecture from The OU in the OpenMinds: Talks from The Open University series and takes place from 6.30pm to 7.30pm in the Berrill Lecture Theatre in the Milton Keynes campus.

A specialist x-ray machine used by Northampton General Hospital​ ​is to be upgraded​ by the Open University so academics can use it to see if particles of gold can kill cancer. ​​The Gulmay machine uses superficial x-ray targeting​, making it​ ideal for treating a range of cancers affecting the skin or the delicate areas of the face, head and neck.
