Once again this past week we’ve been busy scanning across the internet to find the latest information and Open University courses. This week we look at the Belfast degree ceremony, dementia research funding and more of the fall out from the Volkswagen story. A Lisburn woman was one of 275 OU students who received their degrees on 2 October in the Waterfront Hall, Belfast – In the biggest OU ceremony ever held here.

A leading dementia researcher based at The OU in Milton Keynes, has secured nearly £370k of funding from Alzheimer’s Research UK for a pioneering new research project.

Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn paid the price of losing his job after last week’s revelation that software designed to circumvent emission testing was installed on as many as 500,000 “clean diesel ” vehicles sold in the US and as many as 11 million worldwide.
