To Quit or not to Quit?
Some people find that quitting their current job that they don’t enjoy really liberating. This act helps drive the, forward and search for new jobs, and try out new things ferociously and hungrily. For many people though, especially if you financial commitments or a family, this can be a risky move. You can change your career path without taking big risky moves like this, and you can still achieve your goal of finding a new job too. You don’t have to quit your job right now, in order to find another one.
Talk to Someone
Vocalizing your feelings about being unhappy where you are can be really beneficial. Not only is it good to share this with someone, you don’t know where it could lead. If you are unhappy with a certain aspect of the job, this could lead to it being fixed, or they might even offer you a position in a different department. Talking to your partner, or other work colleagues who are also unhappy with the job can be really liberating. You never know, you might just get offered a job elsewhere if you talk about this.
There are also guidance counselors that can be great to talk to about all kinds of life issues, even career paths. Talking to someone can make you feel better, and can help you figure out which direction you want to take our career now.
Get Educated
Taking a course in something that interests you is a great way to get onto a new career path. Check out places offering civil engineering courses, or nursing, or whatever interests you. It can be difficult to balance with a full time job as well, but working for free for someone or company can give you an idea of what you enjoy. Volunteering with somewhere is a lot easier than getting hired, so try something new via an internship.
Changing your career path is easier than you think, and there are plenty of ways you can try out new things, and find out what you enjoy and find fulfilling.
